I'm sometimes #1 when you Google my name.

My name is Patrick Davison. I'm a digital artist living in Brooklyn. My email is: patrick.davison[at]gmail.com

NSFW version 2.0

The current state of the internet has made it so that the old labels NSFW and SFW do not adequately cover the amount of different material that is available for viewing on the web. NSFW 2.0 takes care of this by providing and open system to label and categorize the potentially offensive material in all of our lives.

The Money I Owe My Parents

Early 2009, after being in New York for almost two years, I reached the end of my ability to manage money properly. I figured the best way to deal with the shame of parental debt was to put it on public display. This site uses a small string of javascript to dynamically generate the bar graph based on the figures entered in the list below.

Public Communications

Public Communication was is an attempt to create pre-formatted messages for the iPhone or iPod Touch that allow one to better communicate with strangers in public. The messages are all clearly and consistently formatted, and consist largely of direct compliments. This project uses News Gothic. DOWNLOAD

CXCSvsPRFD

I maintain a perpetual drawing exchange with Charlotte Sullivan. The frequency of our updates fluctuates greatly, but the rules never change: 600 px wide, grayscale, no text. Anything else goes.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is my first attempt at creating a typeface. This rev of it is lowly and incomplete, but is still fun. I will be revising it as time goes by, but for now...you can download and *kind of* use it. DOWNLOAD

What We Know So Far

WWKSF is the web-home of the performance work Mike Rugnetta and I produce. The common themes are speed and complexity. We've been actively performing work since early 2008 and have every intention of continuing.

MemeFactory

MemeFactory is the name used to describe a series of lectures and performances performed by myself, Mike Rugnetta and Stephen Bruckert. The performances are all blisteringly-fast, media-rich, comedic presentations of the state of Internet Memes, generally with an eye to audience participation and the lulz. The best place to get info about these performances is at the WWKSF MemeFactory page.

Videos for Mandiberg

I do a lot of work with Michael Mandiberg (a senior fellow at Eyebeam). A lot of the work that I do for him is video work. Either documenting physical projects, or making videos that stand alone. The best place to see these videos is Mandiberg's Vimeo page.

Digital Foundations

Digital Foundations is a digital design text book co-written by Michael Mandiberg and xtine burrough. I had the good fortune of working on the design of the print version of Digital Foundations. I also got to work with FLOSS Manuals to create a free software translation of the book.
